Zhenzhou Vs Xinxiang football match

Reported by: Sameer ( 2003 Batch )

There was pride for some, shock for others, satisfaction for some and frustration for others as a variety of human emotions surfaced in the unfolding drama when Zhengzhou football team entertained their closest neighbor Xingxiang here on Zhengzhou. The repeat of All-china shivaratri cup final promised a lot of exciting prospect and the host Zhengzhou was not in the mood of handing their bitter rivals any thing for granted.
When we are talking about the match between the two teams of Henan then we are talking about top quality football with jam-packed crowd and lovely atmosphere everywhere but sadly everything was missing in this game while the two teams played a boring 1-1 draw in front of the scattered crowd and freezing temperature. Shanta Sundar Shrestha¡¯s long wait for his maiden goal for the senior team ended when he equalized for Zhengzhou .Earlier Chris of Xingxiang had put them ahead by scoring from a close range by utilizing several defensive error on the back made by the inexperienced defense line of Zhengzhou.

Most of the part of the game was dominated by Xingxiang as they were counted the favorite to win the game. But I should say that they were by far lacking the sorts of magic they were all about. Anyway their defense looked good while their striking part wasn¡¯t as magnificent as it was last year. And Ashok, the keeper was as fabulous and good to watch in the field as always. He gave up what he is all about and made some breathtaking saves and kept his team hunting for their first win against Zhengzhou.

Zhengzhou team looked out of shape and was unable to produce the football they are known about. Although they hold on to keep their heads high at the end of the game. I should praise Amar Kumar Yadav for his influential performance in the back and Sandeep pradhan, the former goalkeeper turned defense for his effort in the new position. But my man of the match for Zhengzhou is Achuyt Gurung, the former Xingxiang striker who gave his more than 100% in the game by suppressing all his emotions for playing against is former counterparts.

The match played between the all china champs and the runner-up should have been much more than what I am describing here. Both the teams looked tired and short of practice as we could see a lot of tired legs in the ground waiting for things to happen rather than making things to happen. I hope both of the team would sort things out and demonstrate better football next time around. I can¡¯t exactly say who should have won this lackluster match but well, it must have been a trip to remember for Xingxiang as brandy never finishes and sun never sets in the bars and discos of Zhengzhou.
